 The complete 2007 Berlinale line-up was announced recently, and european-films.net now has most of the trailers for the European films in competition. First up is the Die Fälscher (The Counterfeiters) trailer, an Austrian-German co-production directed by Anatomie's Stefan Ruzowitzky that looks at the Nazis' use of the world's best counterfeiter to organise labour in a concentration camp to counterfeit foreign money in order to weaken the enemies' economy. The film stars August Diehl, Karl Markovics and Devid Striesow. We also have the Hallam Foe trailer. David McKenzie will present his new film at the Berlinale after his presence their two years ago with Asylum. Hallam Foe is an adaptation of the Scotland-set Peter Jinks novel about a young peeping Tom starring Jamie Bell and Ciarán Hinds. Previously announced trailers that are part of the Berlinale competition: François Ozon's Angel with Romola Garai and Charlotte Rampling and Olivier Dahan's Edith Piaf-biopic La môme (La vie en rose) with Marion Cotillard as the French chanteuse. A first short clip of the Sam Garbarski-directed Irina Palm has popped up here on YouTube. Palm stars Marianne Faithfull as a 50-year-old widow who starts working in the Soho sex-trade. The trailer for the latest Bohumil Hrabal-adaptation of Czech director Jirí Menzel, Obsluhoval jsem anglického krále (I Served the King of England), is available here on the English-language version of the film's official website. Apple has got the trailer for most of the US productions that will be shown in Berlin: 300, The Good Shepherd, The Good German, Notes on a Scandal (technically a UK production) and Letters from Iwo Jima. Last but not least, the German-language trailer for the US production Bordertown has popped up on myvideo.de. The festival runs between February 8-18 and will be covered live by european-films.net, with reviews, red carpet photos and interviews posted around the clock. Related items: |
