Italian actors Stefano Accorsi and Pierfrancesco Favino will headline Mentre Lorenzo dorme (While Lorenzo sleeps), the sixth film from Italo-Turkish director Ferzan Ozpetek. They previously co-starred together in L’ultimo baccio (The Last Kiss) and more recently in Romanzo Criminale (Crime Novel), in which Accorsi’s character played a police officer on the tail of a group of mobsters headed by Favino. For Accorsi, Mentre Lorenzo dorme will mean a reunion with the director of Le fate ignoranti (His secret life) which he also headlined; for Favino it will be the first collaboration with Ozpetek. Not much is known about the plot of Mentre Lorenzo dorme other than that it focuses on a group of 30- and 40-year-olds. Like Cuore sacro and all of his previous features, the script was again written by Ozpetek and his co-writer and producer Gianni Romoli. “It makes us laugh, it makes us cry,” Ozpetek said of his script. “We are moved by what we have written and are very glad that others who read our script respond to it in the same way.” The film is slated to start shooting in September on locations in Rome and Southern Italy.
