Shooting has started on the Swedish feature Rallybrudar (Rally Girls) for director Lena Koppel (2004's Bombay Dreams). The film is set in the 1960s and stars Swedish actresses Eva Röse (Storm, Villmark / Dark Woods) and Marie Robertson (Heartbreak Hotel) as two women who challenge men at a car racing rally in a period when women were not supposed to have a driver's license. The screenplay of Rallybrudar is from the hand of the director and Lars V Johansson, in collaboration with Göran Lindström and based on an idea of executive producer Marianne Willtorp.

Willtorp explained to Nordic Film News: "When I heard of women who were working as assistant veterinarians in the 1960s, at a time when driving fast between farms was essential to make sure bull's sperm would not be wasted, it wasn't very difficult to come up with a good story".

Filming is currently underway in the central region of Värmland in Sweden. Rallybrudar will be released in Sweden in the autumn of 2008 by SF Distribution.

Röse was last seen in the Norwegian romantic drama Mirakel for director Thomas Kaiser, while Robertson's last outing at the cinema was Colin Nutley's smash hit Heartbreak Hotel.
