Veteran British director John Irvin (The Dogs of War, The Fine Art of Love - Mine Ha-Ha) will once again travel to Hungary. This time, he is shooting Dark Clouds Shining, a WWI-themed romantic drama. Irvin previously made HBO’s When Trumpets Fade and last year’s The Moon and the Stars in Hungary. Four young talents are in negotiations to star. They are: David Morrissey (Basic Instict 2), Brian Greenberg (last seen as Meryl Streep’s son in Prime), Rupert Graves (V for Vendetta) and Sophia Myles (Underworld 1-2, Tristan + Isolde). Filming will begin sometime this spring. Laurin Film and producer Kornél Sipos (Underworld, I Spy) are behind the project. The Hungarian production company has an interesting slate of upcoming projects, including a sequel to the hit British horror Dog Soldiers; a Moscow-set thriller starring Winona Ryder and Val Kilmer called Alpha Numeric; a horror film entitled Nine Miles Deep that is set in Australia and stars Radha Mitchell and Olivier Martinez; a drama about the life of Adolph Eichmann and a film starring Sir Michael Caine entitled Memories of Stone.
