The European Film Awards (EFAs) celebrated their twentieth anniversary in Berlin this weekend by giving the 2007 Best European Film and Best European Director titles to 4 luni, 3 saptamini si 2 zile (4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days) and its director Cristian Mungiu. The little Romanian film that could also won the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival in May and is Romania's submission to the Foreign Language Oscar category. Oscar-winner Helen Mirren was crowned Best Actress for her portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II in Stephen Frears' The Queen, while Fatih Akin won the Best European Screenwriter Award for his screenplay for Auf der andere Seite (The Edge of Heaven).
