Spanish actress Pénelope Cruz will again work with director Pedro Almodóvar after her work in his previous movie
Volver earned her an Oscar nomination, reports Spanish daily
El pais. His latest feature will be called
Los abrazos rotos ("Broken Hugs") and will start shooting in January 2008. It will co-star Blanca Portillo, who also starred in
Volver, and character actor Lluís Homar, who previously worked with Almodóvar on
La mala educación (Bad Education). The story revolves around an amour fou and will have hints of fifties Hollywood noir, though it is set in the 1990s and today. It takes place in the world of cinema and big business, the director explained, also mentioning that one major role still needs to be cast. It was not immediately clear if this is the same project as the previously announced
La piel que habito, or whether that project has been put on hold.
